Important historiographic-Chassidic letter from the Rayya”tz’s, the Admo”r Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch’s personal secretary. The letter deals with a period that is less described in Chaba”d chronicles – the period of the Rebbe’s residence in Poland, after his escape from Russia. During this time, the Rebbe often required the services of doctors, as described in the letter. He stayed for long periods in hospitals and recuperating villages. Warsaw, 1935.
The letter is addressed to the philanthropist Mrs. Chavah Peshe Feigin of Philadelphia. The secretary writes in detail about the Rebbe’s health concerns, and about his visits to the doctors in Vienna, the world medical center at the time. Rabbi Feigin notes that the Rebbe travelled to Vienna for several months for medical purposes. He understands that the Rebbe feels better than before from the letters he received from the Rebbe recently. Rabbi Feigin also notes that the doctors think that the Rebbe should stay in Vienna longer for rest and for medical purposes, but it does not seem that this will be possible. Rabbi Feigin concludes with a blessing for the Rebbe to have a complete recovery.
