Rabbi Chaim Shalom Me’eli HaKohen was a Jerusalem sage. C.[1740] he was sent on a fundraising mission to Egypt (refer to “Shiluchei Eretz Yisrael”, p. 392). His legacy included manuscript responsa, novellae and sermons.
Rabbi Shmuel Heller was the Rabbi and leader of the Ashkenazic community of Safed in the second half of the 19th century. He was a genius, righteous person and kabalist.
Rabbeinu Bachya ben Asher Ibn Halawa (1255-1340) was a talmid of the Rashba. His commentary on the Torah is well-regarded.
