Along with a bookmark bearing the stamp of the Beit Medrash of Rabbi Chaim (Tyrer) Czernwoitz’er of Botosani, Romania, where he served as rabbi from [1805], on his journey from the Ukraine to Eretz Yisrael.
A compilation of midrashim on the Tanach, compiled from the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud, Safra, Michilta, Medrash Rabba, Medrash Tehilim, Avos D’Rabbi Nosson, Pirkei D’Rabbi Eliezer and the Masechtot Ketanot. With references to midrashim that were lost over the years – this is the only vestige of their existence, such as the Medrash Esfah, Medrash Abkir, Sifrei Zuta and more.
The work is generally attributed to Rabbi Shimon HaDarshan of Frankfurt who lived in the 13th century, and the Chida agreed with this attribution.
