Content: Smicha given to Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Zevin [1885-1978], when he was rabbi in his hometown Kazimirov; the Admor writes that he is worthy of serving as rabbi in a prominent city. Rabbi Zevin studied in the yeshiva of Rabbi Shmaryahu Noach Schneersohn in Babruysk.
Background: Admor Shmaryahu Noach Schneersohn [1842-1923] was the son of the Admor of Kopust, and grandson of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch. He was appointed rabbi of the Babruysk chassidim and then served as Admor for fifty years. His Torah thoughts are featured in Shemen L’Meor. Letters in his handwriting are rare.
Condition: Very fine. Minimal aging stains and fold marks.
