Magnificent membership certificate, colored lithograph [Monzon?] issued by the “Talmud Torah and Yeshivah Gedolah Etz Chaim,” Jerusalem, start of the 20th century.
Various illustrations on the sides of the certificate, all related to the Etz Chaim Talmud Torah and Yeshivah: Four small pictures of a group of Talmud Torah students praying at the Western Wall; row of stores built by members of the Etz Chaim fund; grounds of the Etz Chaim Talmud Torah; students of the Talmud Torah praying for members at Rachel’s Tomb. Additional illustrations: blueprint of the yeshivah’s new building; the Etz Chaim yeshivah in the churvah of Reb Yehudah HaChassid; about 1000 of the yeshivah’s students in the yeshivah courtyard and on the porches, with Rabbi Shmuel Salant at center. At the top of the certificate there is a lion and a deer holding the Decalogue with a Torah crown at its top. The text of the certificate, with blank spaces to be filled in by hand, in two languages.
