Lazer Krestin (1868-1938) was one of the prominent artists in the Judaic genre. One of the prominent students of Isidor Kaufmann, he became famous for his portraits of Eastern European Jewish figures. He worked in Munich, Vienna, and Odessa until he immigrated to Israel in 1910 at the invitation of Boris Schatz, the founder of Bezalel.
