A letter by a yeshiva student who left Europe with WWII refugees from Vilna to Shanghai with his friend from the yeshiva before the war. It is a wonderful letter from a young man who was alone and lonely, “in terrible isolation, we have become orphans, we have no father nor family.” At this time he was trying to discover who was left alive and where he could go to start his life anew. He remained full of faith; as he had seen miracles before this time, he felt he would see them in the future
[1] paper leaves. 22 x 28 cm. In the letter margin he states that he also sent a letter to Rabbi Yehezkiel Sarna.
This is a rare and moving historical letter that reflects the experiences of a refugee yeshiva student who remains full of faith and with new energy to start his life afresh. Very fine condition.
