The letter discusses an apartment. Rabbi Avraham Elyashiv (1877-1943) was known as the Rabbi of Gomel (Homiel, , Belarus). He learned by the Chofetz Chaim in his youth. In 1924, he immigrated with his family to Eretz Yisrael and established the “Tiferet Bachurim” yeshiva for youth who worked for a living.
Rabbi Avraham was the son-in-law of kabalist Rabbi Shlomo Elyashiv, the “Leshem”. His only son, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, was born after seventeen years of marriage.
