Letter from Rabbi Lehmann, rabbi of Mainz, founder of Der Israelit – the prominent religious newspaper in Germany – and gifted author, who, through his pen, rescued the best youth from “grazing in foreign pastures.” Mainz, 1868. Rare.
Lengthy letter that covers three leaves of Der Israelit stationery. The letter was sent to “the Admo”r rabbi and gaon … Av Beit Din of W”B and the state…” [“אדמו”ר הרב הג’… אב”ד דק”ק וו”ב והמדינה יע”א”]. The letter was written primarily in Yiddish-Deutch. Part deals with halachic matters but its content has not been sufficiently examined.
