The Admor, the holy Rabbi, Rabbi Chana Halberstam from Kalshitz )1884-1942 (Related to the Sanz Rebbe through both his parents. His father, Rabbi Menahem Mendel from Pristik, was the grandson of Chaim of Sanz and the son-in-law of the Holy Rabbi from Shinaweh. From a young age he started to serve as a Rabbi and to lead the congregation in Kalshitz. After the First World War, he settled in Risha, and was counted amongst the important admorim of his time. Author of the book, Divrei Chana, and more. When the Nazis reached Risha, he attempted to keep the mitzvoth as much as possible in difficult conditions. When the danger increased, the Rabbi fled and hid in a bunker in a potato field outside the town. The Nazis found the hiding place and imprisoned him in the prison in Jaslo. Before his death, he recited the verses of the prayer Nishmat Kol Chai. He was shot in the prison during Chol Hamoed of Succot 5700 (1942). The martyr’s brother, written here, also died al kiddush Hashem, during the Shoah. In very good condition.
