Letter from Rabbi Moshe Gavriel of Lissa, Head of the Beit Din of Hadzitsch in 1855.
A friendly letter, dealing mostly with issues of Torah. In the margin are notes regarding the author’s questions in the handwriting of the addressee with his signature (Rabbi Duvarosh Shapiro).
Rabbi Moshe Gavriel of Lissa was from Lissaת and in 1780 was in Greiditz (see list of signatories at the end of “HaYad HaChazaka”). He served as Head of the Beit Din in Neitscht, and afterwards as Head of the Beit Din of Hadzitsch in the region of Poznan, where the Gaon Rabbi Gedalia Lipshitz (father of Rabbi Yisrael Lipshitz, author of “Tiferet Yisrael” on the mishnayot), had served before him. A commendation by him was printed in a book of Psalms with the “Arugat HaBosem” and “Be’er Mayim” commentaries (Kenigsberg, 1855).
