Impressive paper documents. A long letter written on both sides in which he expresses his appreciation for the help that he received, and describes the poor economic situation of Hungarian Jewry.
Rabbi Reuven Menachem Leifer was the son of the Chassidic Master Rabbi Yissachar Bertche of Ungvár. While his father was still alive he established a beit midrash in Ungvár and a Chevra entitled “Minchat Reuven. ” He died in the Holocaust. He was well known for his new interpretations on the Torah, writings and biographies of chassidic masters, especially on the dynasty of Parmishlan-Nodvorno, and in the contemporary writings of the sages appear many words praising him. He is referenced in the third part of “Shem HaG’dolim M’Eretz HaGer.”
