Letter written by Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, when he served on the Great Beit Din for Appeals in Jerusalem, August 16, 1979.

Rabbi Eliyahu discusses if one who is in the year of mourning for his father or mother, after the initial thirty day mourning period, can sing and play instruments at weddings if it his profession.
Rabbi Mordechai Tzemach Eliyahu [1929-2010], the Rishon L’Zion and the Chief Rabbi of Israel, was one of the greatest Rabbis of his generation, a posek and a Kabbalist. He was ordained as a Rabbi and Dayan from the study hall of Rabbi Nissim and was the youngest Dayan in the country when appointed to the Rabbinical Beit Din in Be’er Sheva. He was a member of the Great Rabbinical Beit Din and Chief Rabbi, together with Rabbi Avraham Elkana Kahana Shapira [1983-1993].
