The Rishon LeTziyon Rabbi Yonah Moshe Navon [d. 1841] was one of the leading sages of Jerusalem, paternal grandson of Rabbi Yonah Navon, author of Nechpah B’Kessef, (he wrote glosses on his grandfather’s book, as brought in the title page to Nechpah B’Kessef, part II). He served as an emissary for Jerusalem in 1799, and served as Rishon LeTziyon in Jerusalem from 1836 until his passing.
Rabbi and kabbalist Daniel Shlomo Pinsoֲ [d. 1841] was the author of Shem Chadash al HaYere’im (Jerusalem 1843) was one of the sages of the Beit El yeshivah, son of Rabbi Avraham Pinso, author ofֲ Apei Zutari andֲ Mishpat Katuv, and disciple of the gaon Rabbi David Pardo. His kabbalistic ideas are brought in the book Emet L’Ya’akov by his great-grandson, the Mahari”sh.
Rabbi Ya’akov Ben-Tzahal was among the sages of Jerusalem in the mid-19th century. Two handwritten responsa by him on the laws of challah were printed in the book Piskei Challah by Rabbi Y. Koronil, who refers to him as “one of the sages of the generation here in the holy city.” (See there in the title page and on leaves 22-23).
