Collection of documents, certificates, printed catalogs, engineering diagrams etc. related to the construction of the Great Synagogue in Szeged. The synagogue was inaugurated in 1903 and still stands today. The magnificent edifice is one of the five largest synagogues worldwide. The tender for the synagogue construction was issued in 1899, and was procured by famed Jewish architect, Lipot Baumhorn. Varied documents including receipts, contracts, work offers, details regarding gardening etc, maps depicting the seats in the main hall and women’s gallery, with some seat owner names. A few documents relate to the community school between 1892 through 1913. 25 items, with a few consisting of many documents. Each item is in a separate, nylon portfolio. [1892-1913]. The Szeged synagogue is one of the most magnificent such edifice in Hungary. It survived the Germany Occupation and is a noted tourist site today.
