Novellae by his teachers, disciples of the Chatam Sofer: The gaon Rabbi Yoel Ungar, Av Beit Din of Paks, author ofֲ Teshuvot Riv”a (1800-1886); and Rabbi Moshe HaLevi Lowinger-Kamran, Av Beit Din of Weitzen (1810-1879). Rabbi David Tzvi Friedman studied at first under Rabbi Moshe Segal, who served as rabbi of Weitzen 1874-1879 (the date 1874 appears in the margins of page 9a). Thereafter, he studied under Rabbi Yoel Ungar (page 9b and onward). There is a Shabbat Shuvah sermon on page 15a from 1871 delivered by the Riv”a in Paks.
