Before us is most of the important and renowned book Ir Tzedek printed by the author in 1874. There was an extensive controversy about this book, and vehement articles came out against it. There was even a special booklet published opposing it called Mapolet Ir HaTzedek . Yet the book was received as cornerstone in its field, even though several mistakes were found in it.
The author, R’ Yechiel Matityahu Tzuntz [1847-1882] was born to his father R’ Elimelech Chassid, who pursued the maskilim. He was a chazan and songwriter at the Chassidim’s study hall “Anshei Emet” in Krakow. He passed away at a young age, just 35 years old.
Approximately [92] written pages (page numbering in the manuscript: 16-63, in the printed version: pp 31-148), which is the vast majority of the book. 17×21 cm.
Fine condition: Aging stains. Slight wear to the corners of the leaves. Not bound.
