Manuscript volume with a large compilation of passages that deal with practical Kabbalah – segulahs, amulets and oaths, accompanied by pictures, illustrations and tables. [Tunis, late 18th century.] Various writers. Hebrew and Judeo-Arabic. This manuscript has never been printed, and it may have unknown passages! The first [4] leaves contain a brief transcription from Sefer Raziel HaMalach (first printed in 1701) followed by a large compilation of amulets from unidentified sefarim . Page 7a: “… From a manuscript by the G-dly Rabbi Chaim Vital ztzuk”l, this sacred Name … was in Eliyahu’s cloak, and was by Rabbi Pinchas Ben Yair z”l …” (It is not clear whether this was transcribed from Rabbi Chaim Vital’s manuscript itself (second-hand) or whether it is a transcription of a transcription). Page 9b “To kill the demon in a person’s body, take a bowl …” 10b: “These seven cups are an effective segulah for all illness and for heavy limbs …” Page 13b: ” Hashba’at HaGalgalim … in the name of Hashem, L-rd of the Jewish people … I administer this oath to you band of demons and damagers that wander the four corners of the earth …” “On Sunday, declare: I administer this oath to the spiritual demon […] you and [all] your soldiers and your camps … to come today and you shall do my desire and my will, in the name of the great angel who rules over you …” [27] leaves, written on both sides. 17.5 cm. Moderate-fine condition. Many usage marks. Wear and tears in the margins with a slight lack in the text. Paper completion in the margins of some several of the leaves. In some of the packages, the ink is faded and difficult to read. Some of these passages have the text rewritten (soon after it was printed) on top of the original text. New binding, simple and beautiful.
