Menorat HaMaor by Rabbi Yitzhcak Abuhab, with the commentary Nefesh Yehudah, and with a commentary in Yiddish. Slavuta, printed by Rabbi Shmuel Avraham Shapiro. 1830.
Specifications: [10], 398 leaves, 24 cm. Blueish paper.
Unique Features: Pleasant edition with Yiddish in vowelized letters, different from Rabbi Moshe of Frankfurt’s translation. With important approbations to this edition given to Rabbi Shmuel Avraham Shaprio.
The date of the censor: July 9, 1828 is on the reverse of the title page. A calculation of the year detail on the title page renders 5591 and the Gregorian year as 1830, however, the approbations are from the winter months of 5591, which is 1831. There is a similar edition whose year detail renders the year 5592 (1832).
An incomplete copy of the edition before us is stored in the National Library.
Condition: Very fine except for reinforcements on the first ten leaves with minimal damage to text.
