Background: Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi [1624-1681] was a disciple of the Taz and Rabbi Shabtai Sheftel Horowitz – the son of the Shl”a. He was a rabbi in Halberstat, Bomberg and Steinbach. He was called by the name of his work, the “Nachlat Shiva”.
