Non-traditional haggadah with impressive illustrations and references to current events.
Alongside original passages, there are passages referring to the bondage of the Jewish people over the exiles in general, and specifically the Holocaust, in present tense: “Tens of thousands of people are slaughtered, generations of children exploited by war, the insult of oppressed peoples is burned upon the freedom of thought and conscience … a wave of evil is rampant in the world. The chains of malice have been unleashed, peoples are trampled, races rule, proud, free human thought has been sealed up. Open and hidden warfare murders tens of thousands. The most evil of generations girds its full power for an existential battle … an entire people, our people, is wallowing in its blood, led to slaughter. ‘The whole country is a gallows for him’ …” There are also passages of consolation and encouragement: “But if we fall seven times, we will yet arise and be strengthened. We, and those who come after us, following in our footsteps, as we ourselves left following those who paved the way before us …” and more.
