Background: Leaflet describing a variety of the Agency workers’ activities to completely uproot the Jewish signs and customs among the immigrants during the immigration from Yemen. “They took us to a large diwan (hall) and there we waited. Suddenly, a muzain (barber) approached with a Yemenite youth and he began to cut our hair. All of us, they cut off our peyot. They made us like all the gentiles. In Yemen, the Jabeil (Arabs) would ask us to cut our peyot in exchange for a large plot of land and a lot of money … and we refused, we protected our peyot with great self-sacrifice, and here … we were also forced to pay a high price for their being cut off”
