“… I hereby bless [you] with a mazal tov blessing upon the birth of your daughter, may you raise her to marry a person of Torah and good deeds in tranquility. Regarding the place, I agree to the purchase – may it be at an auspicious time, so that we can also bless on what has been easily completed …”
Rare letter of blessings signed by the sacred Rebbe Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Spinka – one of the leading Admo”rim of the generations, known by the name of his sefer , as the author of Chekel Yitzchak . Sent to his nephew, Rabbi Yosef Meir Kahane of Spinka. Selish, 1933.
Rare and sacred letter with blessings signed by the wonder-worker, the Chekel Yitzchak of Spinka – one of the leading Admo”rim, known for his blessings that were always fulfilled. All over Hungary, and even from abroad, thousands flocked to him to receive his blessings, especially those who were childless, for whom the rebbe performed extra-special wonders (see below).
Aside from the segulah significance of this letter from a renowned wonder-worker, loaded with such rare and important blessings, as we will discuss later on, this letter has Historic-Chassidic significance. It includes two sacred branches of the sacred Spinka dynasty – the Weiss dynasty (the sender) and the Kahane dynasty (the addressee) who split into two branches, from the son and son-in-law of the first Admo”r, the author of Imrei Yosef of Spinka.
The Chekel Yitzchak of Spinka was known for his tremendous diligence. Due to the preciousness of his time, he would speak as briefly as possible. He is unusually expansive with his blessings in this letter, addressed, as mentioned, to his nephew’s beloved son, with very important blessings: upon the birth of a daughter, for a shidduch for said daughter, from a place of tranquility, and also for acquiring a property.
The Rebbe says as follows: “I hereby bless [you] with a mazal tov upon the birth of [your] daughter; may you merit to raise her to a ba’al Torah u’ma’asim tovim in tranquility. With respect to the place, I agree that the purchase should go ahead at an auspicious time, and may we make a blessing upon its easy completion, with blessings and prayers, [your] uncle … who prays and anticipates the salvation, the small one, Yitzchak Isaac.”
Chassidic writer Aharon Surasky, in his sefer Sholshelet Spinka (Bnei Brak, 1990 pp. 417-459), describes marvelous wonders enacted by the Chekel Yitzchak, who was known in his generation for his wonders and his blessing that were always fulfilled. Three chapters exclusively discuss his wonders: ‘Pilei Pla’ot, ‘ ‘V’Tigzor Omer V’YeKam Lecha’ and ‘K’Chol HaYotzeh MiPiv.’ They describe hair-raising wonders regarding agunot , supernatural livelihood, shidduchim and more, but primarily regarding zera shel kayama – about which it was known that explicit Divine inspiration would emanate from his mouth.
Manuscripts written by gedolei haChassidut , especially their signatures, were known over the generations to have been tried-and-true amulets. This is an extremely rare letter of blessings, written to the Chekel Yitzchak’s beloved nephew, on his official stationery, loaded with the most important blessings from the Chekel Yitzchak, and signed in his hand!
