The front leaf bears a chilling Holocaust inscription handwritten by the gaon Rabbi Yissachar Shlomo Teichthal, who wrote it during his flight through Europe from the Nazis: “Hashem granted me this sefer during my residence here in the capital city, in exile in 1944. May Hashem give me the opportunity of seeing the salvation of the Jewish people, amen. The small one, Yissachar Shlomo Teichthal, author of Shu”t Mishneh Sachir and Sefer Em HaBanim Smechah .” A short time later, Rabbi Teichthal was captured, and murdered in Auschwitz, may his blood be avenged.
