Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi David Diespeck, author of Pardes David .
The greatness of Rabbi David Diespeck in the eyes of the leaders of his generation can be gleaned from the fact that he was one of the gedolei hador who gave approbations to Sefer Ya’arot Devash by Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz. (His is the second approbation, immediately following the Sha’agat Aryeh’s.) There is also the fact that the renowned gaon Rabbi Betzalel Ranschberg wrote glosses on his sefer , Pardes David , which make up almost an entire work of their own. (Several of these glosses were printed by Rabbi Y. L. Maimon at the beginning of the sefer Pitchei Niddah , and the glosses as a whole were printed by Rabbi Shiloh Raphael, in Sinai , vol. 74, Kislev-Tevet 1973-4.)
