Poem in honor of the inauguration of the Levantine synagogue in Ferrara in [1840]. By יא”ר, probably Yehudah Aryeh Reggio.
[1] leaf. 28×21 cm. Italian. Poem with 8 stanzas.
The poem begins, “Mah zeh v’al mah zeh…” A different copy of this poem in a manuscript in New York, 3326, notes the event and date – but is missing the poet’s name.
It is possible that יא”ר is the initials of Yehudah Aryeh Reggio who lived in Ferrara at the time and published the Seder Tikunim (Leghorn, 1841). He also wrote the Zivchei Yar on the laws of shechitah, which has survived in a few manuscripts but was never printed.
Minimal aging stains. Fold marks. Very fine condition.
