This is the personal copy that belonged to the gaon of Poland, Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin, rosh yeshivah of Chachmei Lublin and progenitor of the Daf Yomi. In the sefer , there are several early owner’s stamps from the time he was av beit din in Pietrkov. There are also stamps from the library at Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin. As is known, Rabbi Meir Shapira had no children of his own. After he established Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin, he moved into the yeshivah with his wife and transferred his private library there. Many notations appear on the flyleaf from that period; their content has not been examined.
