“H ashem said to me, You are my son! I begot you today. Ask of me and I shall bestow”
Letter loaded with tremendous blessings, including the blessings “for healing and glad tidings” in the Rebbe’s very hand and with his signature. On the bright day of 11 Nissan 1968 – the Rebbe’s birthday.
The letter before us was written, as stated, on the Rebbe’s birthday, which has great Chassidic significance; it is a day capable of realizing blessings said on it, according to famous Chassidic doctrine based on the verses in Tehillim: “I begot you today – ask of me and I shall bestow” – that on each person’s birthday, his blessings are effective. How much more so the blessings of a rabbinic leader of the generation, whose words never go unfulfilled.
In this rare letter before us, the Rebbe blesses almost all blessings a person would wish upon himself, both material and spiritual! “True freedom” – all of us are bound by the hardships and travails of life, and the Rebbe blesses with exodus to true freedom from all oppressing matters. The Rebbe details: “Freedom from material worries and from spiritual worries” – that is, complete freedom, from a material perspective – freedom from financial concerns and from health concerns – and also from a spiritual perspective. And freedom from “anxieties” that consume body and soul. The Rebbe is not satisfied with this; he adds: “And to continue from this freedom and joy through the entire year [אַ גאַנץ יאָר פריילאַך].” Here the Rebbe adds spiritual blessings for continuous Divine service “All day and all night, as it says, ‘Know Him in all your ways.'” The Rebbe concludes his important letter with a blessing so necessary in our time: “With a blessing for healing and glad tidings.”
How significant and calming during this period of the rebirth of the world in which we find ourselves today, to hold a Heavenly note – an expert amulet by a unique tzaddik of the generations in which a “blessing for healing and glad tidings” is written in his very hand.
