Letter with rare and important blessings, including some handwritten by the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch himself, and with his signature. Brooklyn, New York, on the auspicious day of 11 Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday, 1977.
This letter, written on a large leaf, is special by every possible parameter:
The date of the letter: The auspicious day of 11 Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday, the day with the highest segulah capability for his blessings to be fulfilled. The ancients explained this from the phrase in Psalms, “You are my child, I have begotten you on this day, ask of me and I shall grant”!
The blessings in the letter: “Towards the upcoming Chag HaMatzot , the time of our freedom, which is approaching us and the entire Jewish people, I hereby express my blessing for a kosher and joyous holiday; true freedom, freedom from material worries and from spiritual worries, and anything at all that hinders joyous and wholehearted Divine service. This freedom and joy should continue throughout the entire year.
The rare blessing after the signature: “I (Hashem, the source of all blessings) shall bless those who bless you, with a blessing from a small one, and this addition is even greater than the original.”
The jewel in the crown of this most important letter of blessings is the word the Rebbe added in his own hand near the printed word “with blessings”; the Rebbe’s addition of the word, possibly the most important of all, “B’Kavod” [with respect/honor/weightiness] – that which occupies a person from the moment he enters the world and until he leaves it [ kavod is not negative, illusory honor, but true respect, the Jewish kind – this is the Rebbe’s intent].
