Background: Moshe Sharett [1894-1965] was the second prime minister of the State of Israel [between David Ben-Gurion’s two terms]; he was the State of Israel’s first foreign minister, in David Ben-Gurion’s first government. He was also the chairman of the Zionist Organization and leader of the yishuv. Towards end of his life, he was elected chairman of the Jewish Agency and served in that role until his passing.
