“In our country, he was known as the second Chafetz Chaim of Romania”
Extremely rare and important Historic-Chassidic letter regarding the rescue of the Skulener Rebbe from the valley of tears in Romania, written by the Admo”r Rabbi Mordechai Shalom Yosef of Sadigura-Pshemishel, with his signature and stamp. The letter was sent to the chief rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Issac HaLevi Herzog, with his blessings (which were fulfilled). Tel Aviv, 1953.
Letter of extreme historic-Chassidic value dealing with the rescue of the Admo”r Rabbi Meshulam Zusha Portugal of Skulen – one of the leading Admo”rim of the recent generation – from behind the iron curtain. In this letter from the Knesset Mordechai (written in the Admo”r of Skulen’s youth), he refers to him as “the second Chafetz Chaim of Romania”!
This is, of course, aside from the segulah value of a letter from the Knesset Mordechai of Sadigura – one of the prominent Admo”rim of Ruzhin, sent to the chief rabbi of Israel, with wondrous blessings “for length of days in [your] position, until the kohen returns to his light … a year of light and physical health, and imminent redemption.”
It is important to note that the Knesset Yisrael of Sadigura’s blessing to Rabbi Herzog in this letter, “for length of days in [your] position, until the kohen returns to his light ” was fulfilled, and even far beyond! Rabbi Herzog’s son, Chaim, as well, and also his grandson, Yitzchak, served and still serve in the most lofty position, president of the state of Israel, a one-time, peerless phenomenon.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Admo”r Rabbi Mordechai Shalom Yosef, author of Knesset Mordechai of Sadigura , of the subject of the letter, the Admo”r Rabbi Eliezer Zusha Portugal , and of the addressee, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog .
