Sefer HaAruch. Explanation of words and terms in the Talmud by Rabbi Yechiel ben Nosson of Rome. Venice, Daniel Bomberg press, [1531]. Especially rare.
The author was an early Rishon. He was born in Rome in 1031 and passed away there in 1106. Rashi and early rabbis quote his words with great admiration. At the end of the book there is a poem by Rabbi Eliyahu HaLevi Ashkenazi, the noted grammarian known as “Eliyahu Bachur” who published this work. Many corrections throughout the work in an antiquated hand. Antiquated owner signatures on title page.
New half-leather binding. The title page has been professionally repaired with a blemish to one letter. Professional restoration to the margins of the first five and last two leaves. Other than blemish to solitary words on the second leaf, the restoration does not affect the text. Leaves 234-239 are from a different copy. Minimal aging stains. Other than the blemishes noted, the leaves are in very fine condition. HaMadpis Daniel Bombergi 148. Vinograd-Rosenfeld, entry 41397.
