Rabbi Yirmiyahu Loewe, author of “Divrei Yirmiyahu” on Tractate Kiddushin and more, was the son of Rabbi Binyomin Wolf, av”d Werbau and a disciple of the author of Sha’arei Torah. He was a Misnaged. He participated in the rabbinical delegation to Emperor Franz Josef to prevent the establishment of the Rabbinical Seminary in Hungary. Rabbi Yirmiyahu Loewe was the father of Rabbi Elazar Loewe, author of Shemen Rokach – prominent Hungarian rabbi. He was born in 1811, served as av”d in Ujhely from 1815 and passed away in 1874.
