Rabbi Moshe Zaken Mazuz was one of the great sages of Djerba and served as its chief rabbi from 1910 until his death in 1915. He was a student of Rabbi Chaim HaCohen of Tripoli, author of Lev Shomea and other books. He was a posek, a very learned man, and a kabbalist, and he taught many students in Djerba. In addition to the aforementioned works he also printed other books (refer to Chochmei Tunisia, page 106).
