Background: Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv (1910-2012) was the grandson of the saintly kabbalist, author of the Leshem Shvo V’achlama. In his youth, he merited to record section three of his grandfather’s work, who referred to him as “Ashrei Yoladto.” He was a prominent posek for over seventy years. He was noted for his tremendous diligence and profound knowledge of all sections of the Torah, which enabled him to issue halachic decisions regarding every aspect of the Torah. He led the Torah world in Eretz Yisrael and the diaspora for the last twenty years of his life. Previously, his influence in halacha and rabbinical affairs had already reached many communities.
