The author, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lipshitz [1765-1839], was known as the first rabbi of Warsaw. The book was brought to print by the author’s son and sons-in-law. Pedigree copy: the book belonged to Rabbi Shmuel Weiss, rabbi of Vengrov [Wegrow], with his stamp and inscriptions testifying to his ownership. Rabbi Shmuel Weiss [1859-1919] was born to his father, Rabbi Moshe of Tomoshov; he was rabbi of Constantine and then in Vengrov. He authored the books Shu”t Machaneh Shlomo and Shaarei Bererah [printed in Pietrokov, 1911].
