Siddur Rav Amram Gaon – one of the earliest Jewish prayer books, arranged by Rabbi Amram Gaon [810-875], rosh yeshivah of Sura and one of the Gedolei HaKadmonim , who gained renown primarily due to this siddur. This is the personal copy that belonged to the Gadol HaDor , ‘ amud tzluthon d’Yisrael, ‘ the gaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky. His (early) signature appears on the front flyleaf: “From the library of Chaim Kanievsky.” The gaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky often quotes this sacred sefer in his many sefarim .
Following are several examples: “As it says in Siddur Rav Amram Gaon in the haggadah service …” ( Nachal Eitan by gaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, section 5, p. 93.); “As it says in Siddur Rav Amram Gaon in the haggadah service … ( Nachal Eitan by gaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, p. 259). It is interesting to note that in the haggadah service in this copy here, (leaves 40, 41) there is indeed a significant usage mark. “In Shibolei HaLekket section 176, citing Rav Amram Gaon, where it says it in siddur 273 (ibid, p. 271); “… and in Siddur Rav Amram Gaon part II section 70” ( Siach HaSadeh page 40b) and many more times in the rest of his sefarim .
