Six letters including three kvittelach handwritten and signed by Rabbi Elchanan Halpern of Radomysl.
Two of the letters abound with blessings on the occasion of the joy in one of the great Admor’s families, the marriage of their daughter [1947], and the birth of their grandson. Two of the letters are on Rabbi Halpern’s official stationery. Three kvitellach in his handwriting with his name and the names of his family members, given to one of the great Admors for prayer and blessing.
Rabbi Elchanan Halpern of Radomysl [1921-2015] was rabbi of Golders Green in London and president of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations. His grandfather was Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz. When he was 14 he was already known for his genius, and in a responsum written to him by the Rogochover Gaon at this young age, he calls him “HaRav HaGaon.” He immigrated to London in 1939 and was a close associate of Rabbi Shalom Moskowitz – the Admor of Shatz, who was his relative. After the war, he became close to the gaon of Tchebin and was also close with Rabbi Chuna Halberstam of Kolaczyce, Rabbi Avraham Shalom Halberstam of Stropkov, Rabbi Moshe Yitzchak of Pshevorsk and other Admors. He was also known for his expertise in tradition and chassidic stories, which he passed on to those who heard his lessons.
