Specifications: Chamisha Chumshei Torah and five megillot. 221 [should say 321] leaves. Leaves 290-321 feature the five megillot with a half title page.Early Prophets: [1] 325-463 leaves.Later Prophets: 192 [should say: 194] leaves.Writings: [1] 197 [should say: 196]- 400 leaves. The Book of Psalms is printed in two columns.19 cm. Separate title page for each section. The chumash was printed along with the Ba’al HaTurim and Mesorah.
Unique features: Especially rare edition. The editors of the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book saw only two sections. They copied the other sections from Steinshneider 590, with mistakes. The National Library does not have a complete copy.The Tanach was proofread by Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas, a noted opponent of Shabtai Zvi. An additional asset to this edition is mentioned on some title pages: The verse numbers are also written by Rashi’s commentary, in the margins of the page, facing the commentary.
Condition: Moderate-fine. Aging stains. Minimal marginal worming holes. Professional restoration to the Torah section, primarily to the margins of the title page and a number of first leaves. The exterior section of some leaves [about 30] at the end of Writings have been blemished. The blemished paper has been replaced, and the text has been filled in by hand. There are damp marks on the pages with replacement paper. the two volumes have been rebound in nice, new bindings and are placed in a matching slipcase.
