Tractate Chulin with Peirush Rashi, Tosfot, and the Rosh. Pocket edition. Amsterdam, press of Dayan Moshe Frankfurt. 1728. Blue paper.
[282], 69 leaves, 21 cm.
The tractate was printed independently – not as part of a set. Each gemara page of the ordinary format was printed on two pages of this edition.
Antiquated stamps of בהמ”ד פו”מ מה”ו יחיאל וולך זצ”ל [the ancient kloiz of Altona-Hamburg]. Owner signature at the end of the book: שייך…הירץ שייאר סג”ל – Rabbi Hersh Scheir was the Rabbi of Mainz.
Uncommon tractate. It is not noted in Ma’amar al Hadfasat haTalmud’s list of separate tractates printed in Amsterdam. The National Library apparently does not have a complete copy
This gemara is especially rare on blue paper.
Original leather binding with restored backstrip. Gilt cut leaves. Minimal aging stains. Fine-very fine condition.
