Handwritten by the gaon Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Leib Bamberger, av beit din of Bad-Kissingen, son of the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger of Würzburg – “The Würzburger Rav, ” and son-in-law of Rabbi Ya’akov Ettlinger, author of Aruch LaNer . [C. 1860s.]
The writer’s signature appears on the back of the front cover: “The youth Moshe, son of Rabbi [many honorifics] Yitzchak Dov Bamberger HaLevi …” Self-dedication next to the signature: “Gifted to me for my birthday, chol hamoed Pesach, 1859, by my brothers and sisters, may they be well …”
In many places in the manuscript – almost every page – Rabbi Moshe Aryeh mentions kushiyot raised by his father [“אאמ”ו נר”ו”]. In other places, the author cites his brother, Rabbi Simchah.
