Three large photographs by Walter Tzadek – Jewish guards. All three are stamped on the back with the photographer’s ink stamp.
Walter Tzadek [1900-1992] was a native of Berlin who immigrated to Land of Israel in 1933. With no formal training in photography, he began functioning as an independent newspaper photographer using a Leica camera. Due to an old riding accident from Germany, Tzadek used his left hand almost exclusively. Tzadek’s photographs are characterized by very clean composition, light and shadow play, and they were occasionally produced in the spirit of “The New Photography” that was widespread among photographers of the Land of Israel in the 1930s.
Identical size: 18×24 cm. Very fine condition.
