Yom Kippur Machzor with Yiddish-German translation Krotoszyn [1838]. With manuscript on parchment dated the 1st of Elul, 1838.
208 leaves. 21 cm. the parchment measures 14×10 cm.
The owner of the prayer book added a piece of parchment, with writing on both its sides, to the mussaf prayer. It is a lengthy supplement to the “Imru L’Elokim’ hymn that was not printed. The printed hymn is written in alphabetical order through the letter י and then skips to ת, missing the lines for כ through ש. The handwritten supplement adds these lines. Written on both sides of the parchment in a nice, Ashkenazic hand. Ends with words. שייך להנגיד המרומם כ”ה ר’ דוד בר”ר…שטארניקווי יום ב’ דר”ר אלול תקצח לפ”ק [1838].
The parchment is attached with a colored silk lace to the binding and falls into the machzor.
Original leather binding with rubbed backstrip. Very fine condition. Gilt cut leaves.
