Complete kuntress [8 large pages, approximately 3500 words] handwritten by the wonder-worker Rabbi Moshe Yechiel Epstein, author of Esh Dat of Ozhrov – one of the most prominent Admo”rim of his generation. Content of the kuntress : glosses and supplements on the sefer , Esh Dat , one of the most well-known Sifrei Chassidut printed in recent generations. New York, 1945. The compilation is addressed to Rabbi Geffen of Jerusalem, appointed by the Rebbe to edit his sefer .
Almost the entire letter [6 pp] is filled with deep insights on both the revealed and hidden aspects of the Torah, as well as Chassidic thought. Supplements and revisions that the Rebbe requests to add to his sefer . This is a Chassiidc item of rare importance, galley proffs of one of the most important and famous Chassidic works published in recent generations – the sacred work Esh Dat . , handwritten by the author, one of the most prominent Admo”rim of previous generations, Rabbi Moshe Yechiel HaLevi Epstein, also known by the name of this sefer as the Est Dat of Ozhorov.
Alongside the Torah insights, there are many unknown bibliographic details about the printing of the sefer , including quiet discussions of not-insignificant disagreements between the Rebbe and the editor, who desired to leave his possession and the Rebbe would absolutely not hear of it, adding that should he call the editor to a din Torah [which he had no intention of doing] the beit din would obligate him to continue his work.
The first part of the letter [2 pp] deals with the sacred rebbe’s tzedakkah distribution, the funds he sends from America, with a detailed list of the designated recipients, both private individuals and public institutions. It is interesting to see how the Rebbe divides his charity funds between the various charity institutions in the Holy Land, without any preference between Chassidic and other institutions.
