“May it be an auspicious time … for blessings and success in building an eternal edifice … Chassidic spiritual satisfaction from all the children … with mazal tov blessings … Menachem Mendel Schneerson”
Letter loaded with blessings for the success of a shidduch and the construction of an eternal edifice [a successful marriage]. With a solution for a severe problem that is apparently insoluble, from the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch. 27 Kislev, 1952. Brooklyn, New York.
Aside from the many blessings, the Rebbe instructs the father of the bridegroom in his letter as to how to guide his son before the marriage, with respect to Jewish and Chassidic matters. In the letter’s margins, the Rebbe adds a lengthy passage (almost the entire length of the letter) about the recipient’s grandson, who is suffering from an illness. As can be learned from the letter’s contents, the recipient’s daughter has distanced herself from religion, and the Rebbe instructs her father “check with [your] daughter … if this grandson was born in purity. And if, Heaven forbid, Heaven forbid, this is not the case, it is apparently a lost matter that cannot be rectified. Yet the Rebbe gives her council as to how to rectify it according to what is elucidated in the Tanya .
The Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994] was the seventh in the dynasty of Admo”rs of Lubavitch. He served as Admo”r from 1951 until his passing. He was a tremendous gaon in all realms of Torah and his net was, and still is, cast over the entire world.
