Sanctified letter loaded with blessings for health and livelihood with the – rare – special and traditional signature of the Admo”r Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson of Lubavitch. Brooklyn, New York, 16 Kislev, 1950. Sent to the naggid R’ Yosef Shmutkin. Rabbi Shneur Zalman Gurevitz is mentioned.
The Rebbe the Rayya”tz blesses the naggid in the letter before us together with his whole family with health, and the Rebbe details this in an unusual manner, mentioning the word ‘health’ three times! “May Hashem strengthen [your] health, [your] wife’s health and the health of [your] children and household, may they be well” – a threefold blessing with special significance. Later on, the Rebbe adds a blessing for abundant livelihood: “And may He grant good and abundant livelihood to all of you.”
The letter before us was written just before the G-dly light was extinguished – less than two months before the Rayya”tz was summoned to Heaven. It’s appropriate to note the interesting and concealed phenomenon in the Rayya”tz’s signature: The letter י’ in his name Yitzchak is written in Assyrian script. It was later clarified that the Rayya”tz would sign his name this way in the last year of his life. Wondrous.
