Important, lengthy and beautiful letter entirely handwritten and signed by the lofty tzaddik and wonder-worker, the Admo”r Rabbi Yisrael Shapira of Bluzhov, one of the most prominent Admo”rim in the United States. Brooklyn, New York, undated.
The letter was sent by the Rebbe soon after he arrived in America after the Holocaust, to a Holocaust survivor residing in Europe. In his letter, the Rebbe discusses obtaining a permit to enter the United States for that same refugee, and mentions the names of “friends” who remain in Europe. It is touching how each line exudes the Rebbe’s famous ahavat Yisrael ; the way he urges the refugee to hurry and send the documents, and yet deeply understands his delaying the matter. It is as if the Rebbe is more concerned about him than he is for himself.
