A letter from the members of the governing committee of the Vohlin Kollel that was sent to Rabbi Chaim Elyashar and Rabbi David Shovaks, regarding the house of Rebbe Motele of Rachmastrivka. [Jerusalem] [August 13, 1920].
[1] leaf. 25×20 cm. [5] signatures and a stamp to confirm receipt at “The office of the Rabbinate of Adat Yisrael.” Written on [August 13, 1920] and received two days later.
Rebbe Mordechai [Motele] Twersky of Rachmastrivka, the son of Rabbi Yochanan of Rachmastrivka, immigrated to Israel in 1906 and settled in Jerusalem. On one of the intermediary days of Pesach, on the first day of the 1920 riots, he was attacked by Arabs on his way to pray at the Western Wall. He was brought to the hospital and died a month later. Three months after his death the members of the Kollel wanted to sell his house. When the members of the Kollel committee changed, the newly appointed representatives opposed the sale. In this letter, the members of the new committee turn to “The Office of the Rabbinate” under the directorship of Rabbi Elyashar and Rabbi David Shovaks and ask them not to consider the previous committee’s request, until it is clarified who is authorized to represent the Kollel.
