Rabbi Rafael Natan Neta Rabinowitz (1835-1888) learned in Keidan and was known as “The Iluy from Keidan.” He lived in Lemberg for a number of years, where he became known as a Torah genius. Even though he was only in his twenties, Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathansohn used to stand up in his honor. In 1863 he arrived in Munich and began on his life’s work Dikdukei Sofrim in which he researches the versions of the Babylonian Talmud, manuscripts, and ancient printings. He toiled on this topic until his death in 1888.
