Important and fascinating letter, entirely handwritten and signed by the mashgiach, the gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein, to his friend the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Tzvi (Zeidel) Semiaticki, about their mutual friend, the renowned gaon Rabbi Nachum Abba Grossbard – the first mashgiach of the Ponovezh yeshivah (more material about him included). Jerusalem, 1942.
In his fascinating letter, apparently written regarding Rabbi Abba’s appointment as mashgiach of the “mother of yeshivahs” in the Land of Israel – the Ponovezh yeshivah, Rabbi Yechezkel expounds on Rabbi Abba Grossbard’s praises and those of the addressee, Rabbi Zeidel, and fondly remembers the years they studied Torah from Rabbi Abba’s father in the Kelm yeshivah. The ‘mashgiach’ concludes his letter with a blessing: “May Hashem bless [you] with success in all [your] endeavors …”
